I've had 2 blogs for a while just never wrote in this one until today..... lets just see how this goes... Backstory:
3 was when I fell in love in the dark room listening to the sound of my family constantly singing church songs I climbed out of the crib and advanced to the piano...
8 was my first solo for the Colorado Springs Children's Chorale...at the mall and the boy who was supposed 2 also have a solo coughed through his part so I had to do it all...
12 was when I sang in Godwin's Chorus...
15 was when I sang in the Black History Program and the Beauty Contest...
16 I wrote my 1st song...and played piano by ear cause even now I can't read music..
18 was when I joined the band...
20 was when I came to understand that lyrically I had vision...
Then I started my youtube page....
On the bus ride this morning I discovered alot...Figured out where Busboys and Poets is..and other lounges and all I could think about is..."I wonder where I'll perform." I need a feel for the city the roots of the music a jazz,folk,r&b serenade.. This weekend I'm dedicating my Friday and Saturday to lounge hopping..I'm going to do it solo to limit distractions. I also need to check out the 930 club and Madams Organ..I require a musical high that the eclectic can understand.
Inner thought: I need to call Kelela...she's an excellent Jazz singer....
